When treatments can no longer cure you or if you don’t wish to go through life saving treatments and you have less than six months to live then this is where hospice care comes in.

Hospice care is a group of doctors, nurses, counselors, therapists, spiritual advisers, trained volunteers and nursing assistants who have one goal in mind and this is to make the last days on earth for a person who is dying from an incurable disease as comfortable as possible. This is a service that is not only for the person that is dying but also for the loved ones of the person. This is a godsend for countless of families that might feel lost and don’t know how to cope with death.

A lot of time when a person is dying from a incurable disease they choose to do so in their own homes, this is where Hospice Care would come to. They will provide hospital beds and other medical equipment to help make you as comfortable as possible. They can also come into Adult Family Homes and Assisted Living facilities like East Road Adult Home as well.
Hospice will come to your house or facility once or twice a week, depending on your needs. They are available to you 24 hours a day seven days a week. If you need them or one of your family members need them, you can call and they will come to your house, even if it is in the middle of the night. They will make sure you and your family members understand what is going on and what to expect in the hours and days before your passing. They will answer any questions you may have and explain anything you do not understand.
You can still see them as much as you need to. Hospice Care will be there for you and your family until your loved one passes away. They are even there for your family after your death to help you cope with the loss.
Who pays for hospice care?
Hospice care is paid for (usually) directly by Medicare. It is an additional benefit provided by Medicare and because of this a family can usually request hospice services for their loved one without adding additional costs to their loved ones care fees.
